2. Daily Schedule
Daily schedules are posted in each
classroom. Activities in the classroom
activities are varied alternating between
active and quiet lessons, familiar and new
ones, teacher-directed and child-selected,
as well as those indoor and outdoor.
3. Rest Time
Rest time last approximately 1.5 hours a day
and occurs each day after lunch and
toileting. Children are not required to
sleep, but must remain quiet during this
time. They may participate in quiet
activities when the other children have
settled down.
Parents must purchase a 2-inch, 2-toned,
four-fold mat for rest time since this is
required by state procedures. Parents should
also send a towel or sheet that is labeled
with the child’s name that can be used to
cover the mat or used as a blanket. The
linens will be sent home on Friday to be
washed and returned on Monday. Special “soft
sleepy toys” such as teddy bears may also be
brought from home. They should be labeled
and taken home on Fridays for washing or
sanitizing.
4. Outdoor Time
North Carolina licensing regulations
requires that all children play outdoors
daily when weather permits. All children
should wear comfortable shoes that are
appropriate for outdoor play. Sandals or
flip-flops are not allowed since children
could easily trip when running/playing.
Children should be dressed appropriate for
the weather. Children who are too ill to
play outdoors should not attend school that
day.
5. Inclement Weather
Refer to the Ridgecroft School policy on the
website.
